Adobe Lightroom - thanks Coolcat
When I got my new camera a couple of years back, it came with a free copy of Lightroom. I had a good look at it at the time and couldn't get my head around how it managed files, so quickly decided it wasn't for me.
Then last year, following a conversation with Jeff (Coolcat), I decided to give it another look. I spent a while watching some Youtube tutorials that explained the principles behind Lightrooms approach to file management and am beginning to fall in love with it! It can even be used to upload and manage photo's on Flickr. On its own, it's quite a powerful bit of software, but when combined with the plugins from the Nik collection (which are free) it's simply amazing what it can do. I now have a new approach with my photos: adjustments and tweaking etc in Lightroom, and Photoshop reserved for major editing only. So thank you Jeff for inspiring me to take another look at Lightroom - the effort was well worth it even though I'm still only scratching the surface of what it can do . Cliff

Not a cheap Program at £110, but sounds good as an independent tool.

I could do with decent (newer) photo editing software. I'm using Photodeluxe 4.0, positively ancient but it does 99% of what I want and I find it easy to use. Couldn't justify spending money on software as I don't use it often enough.

You're right, it's expensive. But if you can get your hands on a free (or reduced price) copy, it's well worth it.

Lightroom is fantastic. I use it all the time for my images. It’s what I use to edit all my wedding images that I shoot and clients are happy.

I am fortunate to have a stand-alone Lightroom no 4. Thank goodness I kept a record of its licence number, as it was needed when I changed the laptop. I have been using it since 2012. I did have Photoshop and Lightroom CC but decided it wasn’t for me. Another tool I use (no monthly subscription) is Luminar and Aurora https://skylum.com/luminar?utm_sourc...SAAEgJZ__D_BwE

I'm also using Lightroom 4. I know it's a little out of date now, but it's more than powerful enough for my needs at present.
A good tip re the licence number - I'll make sure it's kept safe and sound. Cliff

Pretty much how my workflow is as well Mark. I find Lightroom caters for pretty much everything unless I'm wanting to do layers etc and then it is so easy to open up Photoshop or any plug ins straight from Lightroom itself
