wonder if somebody can recommend where to but spring protectors and is it an easy job .

Hi Julian
Click the link below, and really easy to fit 20 minutes most both sides and they do work, as I found out recently when checking over a members cars, after fitting him front & rear brake pads.

I removed the broken part and advised he get the spring changed asap.
