Default Rimmers Bros Close Call scheme.

I spotted this on another forum today. It's aimed at keeping as many MG-R vehicles on the road as possible following an accident by offering a discount on parts to make it an economically viable repair.Others may already be aware but I certainly wasn't

One can leave a "close call" on a lot of out of stock listed part. I've left my details on a few "out of stock/close call" parts and only received one or two replies. I think that the oem has either gone of of business or not interested in a dozen off!

Why cant they be available at the 'revised price' all the time. Sounds like a sales gimmick or the difference between trade and 'rip joe public off' retail price.

I was aware of the scheme, but have never tried to use it. I always understood it was all about the pricing of expensive parts that were available - nothing to do with availability of otherwise unavailable parts.

Hmm,

did my own version of this when my ZT had its ding years ago ,

Didn't do any discount.

Butgot the insurance company to arrange for all parts to come from R's rather than the garage just fitting whatever they could source .!

Today the only piece still on the car is the rack which didn't come from R's !! .

all the other bits failed in a few 1000 miles ... just my experience

Sign of the times I am afraid, until not just us Rover/Mg Zt owners pick up the cudgel and bring it down on their fingers. As long as they can get away with it, they will.

Sprat to catch a mackerel, nobody does anything for nothing as it were, the quality of anything made today is poor, unless in make in Japan or Germany, had a Rover 114GSi some years ago which needed new rear wheel arches, they were replaced etc, only to rot through a month outside the warranty period, the rest as they say is that.
