Yes, my stepdaughter's Corsa had a front one go a year or so back.

Back on the road again


Fortunately, the very thin strip of rubber lathed off the tyre by the spring was superficial, so got away with that one.


However, it turned out to have damaged the brake pipe as well, which was leaking, so that had to be replaced too.

Back to the old question, I always fit to the front. Back in the day, as per guidance, I rotated positions on the car, including the spare. I was surprised in California that when my stepdaughter had her car serviced, they still do that.

Been there done that got the tee-shirt etc. Front offside spring, on the M6, shredded the tyre. Luckily was in queueing traffic and only doing 3-4 mph.

I suspect that was the bed springs if they heard it during the night.
