I have a 2005 CDTI, owned now for around 9 years and in all that time have only changes one headlight bulb a couple of sidelights (now LED ) and a couple of indicators, due to them turning from amber to clear. I presume you are fitting conventional bulbs, if so, is the glass envelope a dark metallic colour rather than clear when you remove them ? Very simply, bulbs like a nice steady specific voltage and current within their design parameters, though fairly tolerant of a bit above and a bit below, in use the filament, to put it simply ' evaporates' in that it gives off atoms of the filament material, if all's well and it's running within the design parameters, these atoms re-combine with the filament, if the supply is out of spec this can prevent the atoms re-combining and the settle on the glass giving the dark film. All other things being OK, the favourite cause of this on vehicles is a high resistance, more often on the - ( earth ) side, often seen in rear light clusters and side lights where a single bulb presents this, or a row of bulbs are affected.

If it's blowing bulbs, check the wiring harness where it passes over the frame behind the lights, sometimes a worn cable causes a bad earth

I may have opened Pandora's box, I did a little work on her and now she wants the world! The thermostat has failed lol, at least that's an easy fix.
Theyre xenon bulbs, Im always very careful not to touch the glass and they all look normal when being fitted
