Volts jolt, mills kills.

As the saying goes.

It is Ohms Law. I = V/R
I didn't mention that as I though it was well known.--

Do not assume - the standard of education in schools especially in science subjects is not what it was.
It is a current of around 100mA which can kill you. Can be lower if the path goes through the heart which is a low resistance organ.
As I said before it is current that kills not voltage. If you are well insulated many hundreds of volts is not a problem. As Borg Wagner said in #21 - volts jolt, mills kills

1-5mA. Perception level but there is no danger to life.

5-15mA. Pain is experienced along with muscular contraction that can push the person off, above 15mA muscles contract and it becomes impossible to let go.

20-50mA. The recipient cannot let go and experiences extreme pain and becomes unconscious.

50-75mA. The recipient becomes paralysed the heart stops beating and they stop breathing.

Greater 100mA. Ventricular fibrillation and death. The heart's electrical system and pumping cycle are completely disorganized at this point. Little or no blood is pumped to the body and the body is quickly starved of oxygen and a heart attack occurs. The symptoms are immediate: first you lose your pulse, then consciousness, then the ability to breathe.

And where might one ask, did you learn this invaluable information? Sing Sing?

The world is full of assumptions.-- Practically unavoidable.

Putin will never invade Ukraine.--

Most folk don't go around--Well Insulated.----Stick your fingers in a mains socket if you don't believe me.

As for schools it totally depends on which school you are at.--

To get that current through the heart ???

A couple of probes will probably kill with no voltage or current involved.-

Actually I was generalising, you trying to be specific.-- ( Pedantic.-- )

Is not "the standard of education in schools especially in science subjects is not what it was" a generalisation rather than a specific?

With the mouse problem, here in Kenya the farm cat goes on patrol hunting for mice, moles, birds and to chase and run with the dogs. During the evenings as the light fades, the snakes come out, also hunting for lizards and mice. Sometimes a snake will hide beneath the bird table in anticipation. At night a family of Mongeese can sometimes be seen hunting for the snakes. Fortunately we don’t have a need to electrocute mice, we let nature take its course.

One particular mouse I like to see:

The striped field mouse is beautiful and fascinating to watch.

At the moment we don’t really have a problem with mice, our annoyance is with green coloured squirrels getting into our roof and making scratching noises in the ceiling above the bedroom. The other annoyance is from a wild Sykes monkey raiding our avocado trees which are almost ripe.

0 – 1mA No Sensation
1 – 16mA (max) Throw-off’ response
10.5mA (f) 16mA (m) Finger muscles cannot relax & release grip
20 – 30mA Restriction of breathing begins
50mA 50Hz frequency disorientate control signals to the heart
(Ventricular Fibrillation)
50-75mA Paralysis no pulse or respiration
100mA Ventricular fibrillation causing almost certain death

Pretty certain if electricity was discovered today it would most likely be banned under Health and Safety rules.
