Ford Sierra
How are you doing folks, sorry if its not a MG Rover related topic as the hybrid drives like a dream.................... well for the moment at least.
Been looking out for other project car to buy, Have my sights set on a Ford Probe, but after looking at a few Sierr'a today I'm tempted very tempted. Has anyone owned one in the past and what were they like to drive. What engines did they have. ? Wanted to go for a Carb based one or the later fuel injection model. |

Yep, had a few, they make good trikes
Go for the pinto engine, or the twin cam, the cvh engines were a bit 'soft'

Haven't seen a sierra for many years .
I remember the 2.8 was very nippy .. I imagine 99 per cent of them are fridges and microwaves now . |

I see the odd sierra and granada about every now and again. I remember back when i used to walk to school an elderly chap had an old B reg one and it looked like it was fresh out of the factory. Used to be out cleaning it everyday.
I wouldn't mind a XR4i or a Cosworth one day, or maybe a capri, still think they're fantastic looking cars. My grandad had a E reg 2.0 injection which was apparently very quick back when they bought it. |

Eifion a good friend of mine in the local buys and collects restores and sometimes sell's them on.
I've had a look at the 2.0L Diesel engine he had, very nice car looks great but pulling power not that much grunt, Our diesels could eat it for breakfast. Would like one as a project and work on it, Plus some of the parts from the Ford Granada, Cortina, Capri will fit which was handy as if parts get harder to find I've got a choice of three cars. Would love a Capri more then anything, its one of my dreams classic cars, my dad had the 2.8 and the 3.0L which both were pretty nippy but handles like boats. I'd like a classic ford to restore and tune up, Its my passion and always have been a Ford fan, but at the same time the passion for MG Rover is pretty strong too. Not going to rush till I find a good one, good things come to those who wait as they say. |

I remember as a kid we had three brand new. A D reg, an F reg and a J reg turbo diesel.
I remember a garage I worked at had a twin cam sierra loan car. Lovely to drive and look at. If it is your passion, why not! I have a Morris Marina and I love that to bits!! Have you thought about an Escort? I remember my Mum having a Y reg MK3 special edition "tiger" as a kid after she had a car accident in an A reg Subaru. At the same time we had a Sierra and I remember my mum telling me the police saying if she had been in the Sierra she may not be here today. The Subaru hit a Lorry parked on a bend. The Subaru cracked the lorry's chassis.
