Default Maybe worth a try?

Its tire time again and I've been doing a bit of research.

I've found one that looks interesting but I'm hesitating because I've never heard of the Brand, cant find much online about them and I'm guessing they are probably Chinese. I don't like buying without researching a bit.

They do however have a B rating for wet grip, a C for fuel economy and a 69db noise level. That compares well with tires twice the price.

The tire in question is the Gremax Capturar and I can get them for £39.50 each.

Anyone ever heard of them?

(Standing by for the usual " if you don't pay £200 a corner then you are little better than a murderer" rant from the usual suspects)

They are definitely Chinese (Qingdao city) but unable to find any reviews as they are relatively new to the UK.

I don't subscribe to the " £200 a corner" theory but think that you do need to pay around £100 for a decent tire unless you only use the car for occasionally "pottering" to the shops. I have used Vredestein Sportraks on my 75's for over three years now and they have proved to be excellent tires.

Ive noticed the standard of the tyres are improving but I do still go by the 2 adages that buy the best tyres you can afford and you get what you pay for.
(Unless you take your car to Halfrauds lol and come away lighter in the pocket and in the undertray dept.)

I'm probably going to end up paying £250 that I cant really afford to replace the Goodyear Eagles I've got on at the moment for more of the same.

These tyres always seem temping, especially when they claim good performance ratings but you can never tell how accurate the ratings are.

I cant afford to spend £80 on something I'm going to end up throwing away either!

Don't know whether to take a chance.

Probably not an exhaustive list, but it might be useful for anyone looking for a tyre brand and where they originate from.

The one British company on that list only makes competition Rally tires

If that`s what you can afford nothing wrong with them. Buy two and if you get on with them you know what to buy next time.

Happy with the Dunlop Blue Response I've just had fitted. Not mega expensive, around 65 quid each, only got them 'cos they're quiet.

I have Falken ZE914 tyres fitted to my ZTT I also had these fitted to my 75 I uses to own, I find them a good tyre for the price I paid £103.50 per tyre fully fitted for 225/45 R18 tyres.

I buy "Uniroyal rain expert" (?) @ £50 each and love em. They have been keeping me out of ditches for years now, (and that's not always easy!).
