That's a new one on me - I suspect that whoever said that meant the steering wheel rotary coupler. I don't think that's a huge job to change -but you'll have to source a working one first.

I am assuming that it has actually been (properly) tested and identified as the cause of your problem.

I don't thinks its a ring, its a wiring harness.
Like this https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ro...PBtAtiGy2qyGsM:

1 check fuses
2 either check power at horn or at switch
3 either check power at horn or at switch
4 test horn
5 test for poor connection at horn
if the 5 above don't come up with a fault then I tend to go for broken wire
All 5 above are cheap fixes and diy jobs. even a broken wire once located can be an easy fix

Check fuse 31 in the passenger compartment fusebox and the horn relay which is in there as well.

It's possible to use a meter to test from there as well to see whether the connection to the horn switches is working ok as well. Be aware though that there is a diode from one side of the relay coil to earth so it will depend on which way around the meter leads are.

me to, i bet the horn buttons are worn.
if it was the rotary coupler you would also have an airbag fault as well?

Just to point out that there's no power at the horn until the horn relay contacts. If the Horn fuse is OK then test the relay - does it click when a steering wheel horn button is pressed? (try both buttons). If it does then the wiring to the steering wheel is fine. If it doesn't then check that the relay is getting power (the horn switch is in the ground leg relative to the relay). If it is getting power then swap in another (known good) relay and see if that works. if not even a click then the wiring relay to the buttons is suspect.

If the relay clicks on a horn button press then try swapping the relay - the contacts may have failed. If the relay swap doesn't work then it's the wiring to the horn from the relay and the horn ground connection that needs testing next.

HI Harry.
When did this first become a problem ie did it happen over night, as the car bumper been off for any reason lately ? I ask this because there is a loom plug that sometimes needs to be disconnected, if this as happened and it as not been re-connected or even not pushed fully home the horn will not work.

I’ve just found out the horn stopped working yesterday on my wife’s Contemporary V6.
Fuse 31 is fine.
I have no way of testing anything and as bad luck would come along the car is booked in for its MOT this Sunday!
When the horn is pressed there is a click from the fuse box area. Is that a relay playing up?

I had the same problem. Traced fault to the wires going to the horns near the slam panel. The radiator fan had cut one of them. Loom must have come loose. Easy repair and tucked neatly away

Could be the relay, the trouble is the relay is soldered into the fuse box and is not easily removable on later cars!!!
