Default Frozen door lock

Do other members, that haven't the luxury of a garage, find that on a frosty morning once they've opened the drivers door it then wont latch again. I've sprayed WD into the key lock and lubricated what can be seen of the lock with the door open, or is it part of the mechanism inside the door that's freezing?

I get this problem when it's frosty. After a few minutes with the heater on full blast it eventually clicks shut again

I’ve found my boot latch struggles a bit when freezing; sounds like it operates two or three times. I did lube it recently with light oil.

Sounds like it's "machine gunning" wind the rubber stops out slightly

That’s by loosening the two cap face bolts on the rear face and pulling the assy up slightly? Ta for the advice.

The 2 rubber stops on the boot lid, top left and right as you look at the open boot.
This is a pic with the rubber removed

Ah, ok, I was looking at the catch, totally the wrong place.

What you say makes sense: cold rubber doesn’t give as much, so lock struggles to engage...

No, it's because if the stops are wound in too far, the catch can't disengage properly and machine guns, so winding them out a bit prevents this.

Hi,
I have same trouble with L/H rear door if car has been out overnight and weather has been wet before frost.
This is my second winter with this 2002 Tourer and during my almost 10-year 75 ownership i never had such a issue with other car(or other door)
Last winter i removed lock assembly and soaked it with WD-40 but no joy... First time when temperature dropped below -5 degrees same story again.
Next step is to order new lock assembly because its also more "lazy" than other doors when colder weather. At summer it works normally, but when temperature drops even near zero very often needed one extra press from remote to get this door unlocked.

Sorry,i didnt have any solution for you, only same trouble.
