Default Another Car

Another project to get on with it’s a 1973 Triumph Spitfire 1300 and was originally white but besides that it’s completely original and is very solid it’s missing its keys and carbs

My Triumph GT6 was Mimosa yellow but always looked faded so got repainted in Jaguar signal red.

Looks like a nice project.
Just finished changing the head gasket on mine.
Enjoy

Question

This might be a daft question to some but forgive me because I'm a poor northern boy. There looks to be some sort of filler cap in the centre behind the rear screen, what is it for?

It’s the petrol filler cap

A risky place for a petrol filler point it would seem to me.

The location of the tank would be more concerning of cars of that era.

But it was the seventies, different times, 7 squabbling kids on the back seat, plus two sitting on your mother's friend's knees in the front passenger seat, with front only seatbelts, both marked from from their buckles, having never moved from the date of installation. All the windows open too, to get the fresh air in, and cool down travelling at 50/60mph on the way to the beach

And it’s a Triumph Spitfire if you’re in any crash if it’s around 30mph and higher your dead so you never think about the petrol tank killing you but you never think about it never really changed from it’s release in 1962 to 1980 when the last one was made
