Default Exhaust and cat

I was surprised to be quoted by a well known Hull exhaust company the price of £283 for a cat converter and £195 for a back box on my 1.8T. Both are available on e bay for much less. The mechanic said that his supplier took the view that anyone keeping an old car on the road would be prepared to pay any price!!

Its a sign to me that our cars are now moving into "classic" territory.

I don't think they will sell many then.

It won’t be a very good cat for that price I’m afraid.

Default Exhaust and cat

I thought I had done well getting a back box for the price that I did but the supplier has said it is no longer available and refunded the money I paid. A subsequent supplier quoted £350! But after many calls I have one on order for £130. It pays to shop around.
