If it's what I think it is , leave it in ; it's there for a reason , to act as a vapour barrier and prevent the fluid absorbing water . It is often referred to as the "condom" on here . It is a flexible diaphragm which will shrink and swell to allow movement of fluid . Many folk on here have cut the bottom off it to allow the reservoir to hold more fluid , but it was fitted to at least the 400 and the 45 ranges before the 75 , without ever causing any problem . My own thinking is that if you need more fluid , you are better off finding the leak !

MGR in their infinite wisdom believed the clutch system would last without any servicing of the hydraulics. So they sealed it for life. Trouble is it's not known for its longevity.

The brake master doesnt need a 'condom', i think its only there so the whole unit can be sold as a ready filled off the shelf item. I removed mine and replaced it with an o ring. Bleed thru about 200ml yearly and fill to about 10mm from top of master.

The condom can be removed provided you replace the hydraulic fluid on a (say) 2 yearly schedule. It does allow you to double the reservoir capacity. However, like brake fluid, it will slowly hydrate and become less efficient over time. The original idea was the prevent moisture absorption as a sealed for life system.
