I've heard that carlins name before, They always taste better the day after when the liqueur thickens up. Dad used to send me with a big stone jug to fill with black peys to bring home

Yuk - what a 'orrible morning - cold, greyer than usual and a bitter wind from the West.
Good day to have a couple of panes of double glazing replaced - not ! I'll have to keep the heating on - AND turn it up. Gawd - I need to go and lie down in a darkened room after typing that

Aye - we're the same down here. You ate them on Carlin Sunday (in sequence, leading up to Easter, "Carlin (Sunday), Palm (Sunday) and Paste Egg Day (Easter Sunday)" was the rhyme by which you specified the dates

When I was very young, my older sister convinced me that carlins were sheep droppings collected off the Moors

All this talk of pigeon peas has got me fancying a good old wood pigeon stew with root veg, just like we had when I were a lad back in Nelsons county in the 1950s..

Afternoon all

Just had my annual visit to see Nurse Dracula

It was very eerie going to the Doctors Surgery, you had to ring bell to identify yourself then a nurse all clad in plastic etclet you in after zapping your head with her ray gun

Then lead to see Nurse Dracula, who was also clad in plastic etc,

Needles then stuck in, and blood drawn, blood pressure check, then finished off by giving me one

in the arm (Flu Jab)

Then told to leave by the back door

A visit to remember

My Nanny made the best ever Rabbit Stew

Her dumplings were light as a feather and white as snow

Those were the days
