Default Front Driver Side Brake Pad Wear Sensor

Goodevening all, hoping somebody can help me as I'm having trouble refitting a new brake pad sensor to my rover 75... The car failed it's mot last week for a airbag light and the brakes were binding on the driver side... The airbag light was an easy fix, turned out it was caught in the seat runner and was nipping the wire, managed to wiggle it out and the light now goes out every time... The brake calipers were removed and a new piston , seals and pads were put on. Now I'm having a real noodle scratching time trying to get this brake pad wear sensor back on, after trawling through the net for the afternoon I'm still none the wiser... Can anyone help me please!!! I've read that one guy had to put two clips on to make his fit and that some guys have had the wrong part sent in the right packaging, I bought mine on ebay for £2,98 and they all look exactly the same so I'm sure I have the right part... I'm not sure if I should remove the caliper again and see if I can fit it direct to the pad and thread it back through??? Its driving me crazy... many thanks in advance...

If you paid £2.98, I would double check the size where it fits into the brake pad because I would imagine it originated from China!

There's no real trick to it & you shouldn't have to remove the caliper again to fit it.

Thanks, yes I thought the same and have checked and double checked with the old sensor and they both appear to be the same as far as I can tell. Can you tell me which side of the disc it goes or has anyone got a picture of the sensor in place?

Hi Saul.
If that is the code and it matches this below then yes you have the right sensor.

As you can see from this photo the wire had snapped so the sensor needed to be swapped out, hopefully these photos will help you.

2

Feed the black connector through the wheel arch liner.
3

then press in the rubber grommet.
4

remove the old black connector.
5

Plug in the new connector.
6

refit into the holding clip
7

Position the wiring through the clips on the wheel arch liner.
8

9

Push the rubber grommet into the section on the strut.
10

Finally push the wear section into the back of the brake pad, any excess wiring should be held by the brake nipple rubber.

Saul, do you have the little wire clip where the sensor tip enters the brake pad?

All OK you say.---That little spring retaining clip can be a curse as it's very easy for it to ping off and disappear.

I always lay a cloth over where the clip goes. It can't then escape.

By the way. when connection wears it's very easy to connect the two ends with a small blob of solder.
