Default Special tools

Does anyone know of anywhere I can purchase cheaper alternatives for the 18G-1574 crankshaft oil seal assembly tool and the LRT-12-144 (aka 18G-1736) Cilinder liner clamps?

I have no idea what kind of precious metals or stones the genuine ones are made from buy I don't want to spend more on tools than I am rebuilding the engine!

Cheers

I'm sure looking at the pictures of the tools in this online manual I found by searching for the special tool number you mention, that something could be made to fit.

The liner clamps look to be a thick tube with an eccentric washer welded on the end, I would imagine the overall length to be that of the cylinder head thickness where the bolts pass through it.

The oil seal fitting tool a simple ring with three holes to pull the oil seal into position squarely, while the sealant sets?

I'm sure not everyone who has done this job before has access to the tools you mention, so there must be workarounds possible.

Yeah I've got a feeling I'm going to end up making my own.

I'm going to pay my local MG dealer a visit and see if they still have any of the special tools left and if they would be willing to assist with the crankshaft oil seal fitting.

If they have them, I'm sure they would hire them out with a small deposit perhaps?

It depends on if you are on good terms I suppose............it wouldn't harm to ask either way, they can only say yes or no.

I wish there was one of those manuals for my KV6!
