Default Exhaust Advice

As my car does me no favours, the exhaust started blowing yesterday and the MOT is due on the 19th October.

If it is the rear silencer, what are my options for a good quality replacement? The DMGRS one looks to be out of stock until December, but that it for a saloon (mine is a 1.8T tourer).

The Rimmer Bros one looks nothing like the original and tourer exhausts are out of stock.

Would a temporary repair get it through the MOT?

A temporary repair is fine here if it stops it blowing, otherwise try autodoc.co.uk

Hi Martin,

As Vitesse says, yes it will so long as it's no longer blowing. A temporary repair will also buy you some time to source a replacement. Walker exhausts, a long established company, has a very helpful sales department on 0121 609 3047. You'll have to be prepared to travel to a motor factor to collect it though.

I just fitted a Klarius to my 1.8 saloon which is fine.

I bought it from another member who bought it for his Tourer but never fitted it, l don't know why not. I think there may be some body contact issues with the Tourer that you don't get on the saloon. I've had no issues with it anyway.

My back box has a slight blow too, I did a temp repair with a heat resistant paste, Gungum is fine, MOT passed last Saturday with no advisories either, I spoke to the mechanic and he looked at it and said as above, it's not blowing I don't see a problem.
