Default alignment

How often should an alignment check be done. A tyre fitter said once every year even though all seems ok.

This is one of those things that will get many different answers.

My approach is to have a 4-wheel alignment check done a) after I first buy a car, b) every 3ish years, or c) if any handling or tyre wear issue are evident. Having said that, where we live there is never a need to drive onto kerbs etc.

My local hunter equipped garage charges about £25 for a check and £25 for each wheel that requires adjustment. So a check costs under £30 which I feel is well worth spending every couple of years.
