I presume if and when Tom decides to provide replacement panels, he will have a set length, as not all of our cars will have the same amount of corrosion in the same area, some maybe less other more.

I've often wondered why Poland are able to get hold of Rover parts that are difficult or impossible to get over here.

A few years ago I needed a couple of door handles for my ZS, this was before I knew about DMGR I admit, the only place I could get new was Poland.

Because they still have a generation of hand skilled labour's and havnt had their jobs replaced by call centres or apps!

And still have generations surviving who grew up having to repair rather than replace.

Former Communist states epitomise the saying 'necessity is the mother of invention '. I have read of Cuban cars driving around with home brew brake fluids!

With regards to Tom's work, having the repair panels made is one thing, but looking at the work he does, it goes beyond a replacement panel. I am seriously considering the viability of a trip over.

They also don't have the cut outs for the sill finishers

I won't even consider trying to weld them unless the zinc rich paint is removed first. Presumably they are cold galvanised so it's a case of removing the "paint" mechanically.

Sadly I haven't heard from Tom since his reply in October, he said he'd get back to me when he had the time to make a batch. Guess he's still very busy and I don't want to harass him.

After looking at this post I contacted Ex-Pressed Steel Panels Ltd.Yorkshire. They do a lot of panels for older BMC cars.

here is their response today (reproduced with Harriet's permission):

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your enquiry. We don’t currently manufacture any Rover 75 panels.

For us to be able to re-manufacture a panel we need a genuine, new old stock (NOS) panel to mould from. If you have a genuine panel or if you can source one then we may be able to help. The owner’s club may be able to help with finding a new/old stock panel.

To put a new panel into production we require a minimum order of 10 panels. The current manufacturing lead time on new panel production is 12 months from order confirmation; this is due to a large number of new panels awaiting production.

I hope I have been of assistance, however, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
