Had a phone call today, an MGTF which had a 1600 engine fitted, had been retrofitted with an LE500 135 engine following a hydraulic incident leading to two bent conrods.

Anyway the crux of the conversation went new ECU, no problem, can I come over in the wife's car, so I can use your lift to fit a new exhaust.

So I coded a new ECU to the TF, then fitted a new exhaust to the Freelander, it's third system in 21 years, and what a pig it was to do

On the plus side, 40 miles covered in it today, which has cleaned up the brake discs nicely, and the suggestions of MOT work that may be required was taken on board, so a couple of little snagging jobs to do before taking it for test.

It may get an oil change too, as according to the felt tip message on the oil filter, I last changed the oil in July 2010 at 67000 miles

This is my 5000 mile 75 engine, there is a story of how it got like this but....I'll mend it first and get my head together before I tell it. It wasn't me that did this......

Looks a bit nasty Mike, are the pistons ok?

When I looked at the engine that came out of the TF, number 2 was about six mm lower than 4 when at TDC, I suspect there had been an attempt to tow start the car.

Anyway, more to the point forget the engine, how are you doing?

Best of luck for a smooth project. Just keep repeating every big job is a series of small jobs

Floating valves! Was that your invention? Don’t look very happy does it.
Little bit of noise caused there, and expensive.

I did nothing on my ZT190 today other than drive it to the local DIY store to pick up two more LED workshop lights making a total of 12 90cm lights in my two car garage. It's lit up like a showroom now!

I've measured the depth of each bore to crown and they're all good,it's been a lucky escape as the valve is rammed into the head between ports, the head is split and scrap. I have to prep another head with the water mod I did on this one. The 75 came off worst but all my cars got damaged in the incident, I'll write it soon.
I'm doing OK I suppose, yesterday was his birthday and although he wasn't here it was still his birthday so I had a beer or two to remember him. I'm not exempt from a bit of misery so It's my turn for some, others get much worse so it's not why me? Why not me?

I might have caught another lucky break because of my classic car collection, I'll see how it goes and then I can talk about it if it works out.
Regards...

Very expensive for the people that did it, the damage to the engine was just part of it.
