Annual costs of my 75
Since buying in 2010 my diesel cdti auto Connie now remapped I have kept an log of my yearly outgoings and in 2019 these totalled £1553 (everything except depreciation) over 5023 miles. Thats 30.92p per mile
These were: VED £290 - Fuel £655.12 - Consumables (Wipers etc) £37.95 - Service £100 - MOT £30 - Repairs Nil - Breakdown Cover £ 37.63 - Insurance £393.94 - Miscellaneous (Redex etc) £6 = Total £1553.64 for the year I bought the car for £3050 so the depreciation might average about £200 per year, fairly inexpensive motoring I would say. Is this of any interest to anyone? |

It sounds as though you rather like it Ray.
Someone once said the value is remembered long after the cost is forgotten. I always thought the day I bought it was day 1 and the market could whistle. I think you might be overstating the depreciation though. A well maintained car with low mileage could well be only half your suggested figure, even if you decided to sell it and that seems unlikely. These are now keepers and it will come to pass that they will start to get more attention once true 'classic' status in terms of age is reached. Talking of low mileage - 500 a year? Now that's a keeper!

Considering what people are willing to pay out for absolute rubbish these days I don’t regret anything I spend on my Rover. It cost me £3500 last spring and spent around £2100 so far in improvements and maintenance....I’ve done over £700 just this month as I view it as an investment.
My CDTi has just 64000 miles on it and it’s mark and prang free so it’s gonna be with me a very long time!

my car 600
donor car 200 tax 700 insurance 700 servvicing 80 total 2280 my skoda 2016 now sold payments 350x12 = 4200 insurance 550 tax 190 service 200 total 5140 i love my rover

So many reports of clutch issues with the diesels, I haven't had any with this one yet, 84k and owned for 2 yrs now. I don't believe it would cost 500 quid to replace either. The guy who does my (big) jobs has changed a gearbox on my last 75 for 150 quid labour and parts are not gonna cost 350. I think, as above, it's legislation that will eventually kill the diesels.
