Too true, I've not tired that for some years on both counts, Now use maily white spirit and a good water clean afterwards...... Time and technology moves on to the detriment of old and tried and tested methods

Give the screen a thorough wash. Then get some 'Grade 0000 Super Fine Steel Wool' and use it to give the glass a good going over using screen wash as a lubricant.
I have been using this method for many years and absolutely no scratching of the glass takes place. It certainly does remove road grime though.

I do a lot of Motor Way trips and runs where HGV and other heavys use, bearing in mind also that there are a lot more diesel motors now more than ever.
It is the exhaust from such like engines that cause the wiper problem.
Carry with you a small container of neat screen wash. Clean the screen AND the wiper blades.
Works every time for me, on any vehicle!

On my previous car (BMW M3), judder was driving me mental. I fitted new arms, new Bosch blades etc - even worse. Tried all the expensive recommended "this will cure your problem" brands. Waste of time.

So I went to cheapo eBay ones after that. No better, but certainly no worse.

On the Rover, I'm on a set of cheap Aeros from eBay over a year now, and very happy.

Been using the £5 aero ones off the bay for 2 or 3 years now. No problems whatsoever!

Wax wash causes wiper blade judder. Our local car wash (No! I don't before you ask!) used to have a wax in the final rinse which caused the dreaded judder. After using the cheaper "No wax" rinse alternative, the juddering stopped.
