Managed to crawl under the car yesterday and after prying, pulling ,pushing and basically hanging off the arm I found a tiny bit of play in the ball joint.
So have ordered a new arm and bush .

Have fun fitting them. Just recently did my arm and bush. Very difficult if lying under the car.
Managed to borrow a friends pit. Still a bit difficult even with clear access.

Not a job I am looking forward to , last time I changed just the bush and it took me best part of 2 days.
When it arrives the plan is to angle grind through the arm and then smack seven bells out of it with some heat

I took the arms out of my sub frame a week ago. I had only read "horror" stories about removing the taper from the sub frame.
With the nut on the end a couple of firm not even hard hits with a lump hammer and both arms popped out without damage to the thread.

Mind you, I had my sub frame out and upside down.

Mine was very easy to remove. virtually no thumping needed.-------Or any heat.

Try first without going to the trouble of a disc cutter.

Easier to get back in if you remove the steering tie bar. Also easy to remove and re-fit.

The hardest part I found was getting the two bolts in the bush housing started. Pushing the front suspension up a little helped as the bolts were at an easier angle to get them started. ( I used a bottle jack. )

if its a diesel, had similar noise, changed everything engine mount wise, finally found it was the aluminium spacer under the hydromount wasnt tight enough and was moving on accelerating or stopping.

If you're still thinking of cutting through the old one, make sure you're holding that grinder tight as it will jam up in the alloy and snatch.

Default Update

So , managed to get the old one off with a bit of heat and a club hammer.
Put the new one on and the is still play in the joint on the hub so looks like a new hub.
Without looking are they still available?
