Recharageable torch loom
I want to get myself a toy, a rechargeable torch for me 2005 CDT. Always thought a torch in the car was a good idea.
Via a post by Reebs I'm getting one from a member on here but I'm unsure where to find the plug or socket to plug it into. Can you give me a heads up where to look and do I need any fuses or relays? thank you in advance macafee2 |

I just fitted one. I did find a white blanked off plug that was fixed to the transmission tunnel direct behind the hand brake but although there were two '+'s and one '-' there was only 7 and a bit volts. so I took a feed from the multi-plug from the violet wire that feeds the cigar lighter and put in an inline fuse.

Thanks Chuck. I thought the torch went into the glove box.

It does, you need to remove the inner part (two Torx screws) it has a recessed type clip/toggle as well but will come with a sharp pull.
You will need to pull the front ashtray and heater controls as well. On my car with double DIN radio it was easier to loosen the radio - no need to remove completely take off the facia of the heater controls and the switches below, then you will see how the ashtray comes out. It is all screws and toggles but quite simple when you look at it in logical sequence. A sharp modelling knife will cut the hole in the glove box quite easily there is already the imprint of the aperture needed.

Chuck, does that mean I'm going from behind the handbrake, traveling along the centre console, up behind the ashtray and heater controls and then across into the underside of the glove box?
I expected to find a socket under the glove box just to plug into, opps not so easy after all it seems macafee2 |

The torch goes in the centre cubby!
Who said (Rover) cars are simple? No need to attack the front glove box. Wire from the cigar lighter wire in the front (ashtray)

The reason I took a feed from the cigar lighter was in case in the future I wanted to fit a 12Volt socket (See cut-out markings in the centre box). Make sure the wire from the cigar is the same size and it can be used for the power socket as well. ground to the chassis by the hand brake

I'm a little confused.
post 4 seems to indicate the torch goes in glove box, post 6 seems to indicate in goes in the cubby hole between the front seats. Have I miss understood one of the posts? Shame this loom will not be there as wiring for electric blind, electric seats and cruise control were all there. I assume the torch was dropped from the range while the other things were still available. macafee2 |
