1978 Lada 1500 estate. WOL 794T. Yellow with a brown vinyl roof. An absolute pig to drive with no power steering and an ancient gearbox.
Must have passed due to sympathy from the examiner.

1972 in a 1967 Wolseley 6/110, which my father owned and taught me in, at Santa Pod just before it became a raceway! Passed first time.

Mark one Escort estate with a hole in the drivers door and when you stood on the brakes it pulled sharply to the left but still passed back in '82.

First had lessons in an Austin A60 Cambridge during 1966, didn't really get on with my instructor so I changed schools and passed my test at the second attempt in 1967 driving their Austin Mini 850.

Started to have lessons with BSM in a Metro in 1984......hit a dog on my second lesson with them because instructor wasn’t watching the road
Changed to a local instructor who had just got a mark 1 Suzuki Swift with a digital dash
8 lessons later, I passed first time.
Seem to remember it was £10 per hour.

Around 1984 in a Datsun Sunny, Edgeware Road, London. Instructor who was very good was an independent but had the habit of eating a lot of food in the car, so the steering wheel was always greasy!

Learned to drive at age 11 on a private lane in my Mum's Mk2 1300 Escort.
Passed through 3 Mini's an Avenger and a Chevette, which were all driving MOT failures that I used to tear about the lane and fields by our home.
Passed test in 1991 5 weeks after 17th Birthday, Dad being a police advanced driver helped a lot with my ability. Also passed my motorcycle test in 1991.
I am currently back to school - just completed week 1 of 3 of the standard police driving test. Skid pan yesterday! Theory exam next Thursday, plenty of "progressive driving" to come in the next 2 weeks.
Currently studying Roadcraft and Highway Code, wish me luck!!!

You don't see so many these days with L-plates stuck on and a family member in the passenger seat, finger nails deep into the dash top.

I passed first time in Nov 77 in a Mini. Did a 1-point turn

Next day out in my Austin 1100 i went through a large puddle and it cut out. Luckily for me a passing van driver realised that the front facing distributor had got soaked, a few squirts of WD40 and I was sorted.

Went on to teach my younger brother, girlfriend and a few mates well enough for them to pass, all before the age of 20. Perish the thought now but I did teach my daughter to drive 12 years ago in our Ford Probe. Local industrial estate on a Sunday morning using discarded pallets, buckets and bobbins to create a course for parking practice and more.

Passed my test on Nov 5th 1965, so there is no chance i can remember what car. Remember date as it's Lester Piggots' birthday.
