I've been using Peverell Garage for nearly 20 years interesting to see how it has changed, never knew it was a VW or a Lada dealer.
My Uncle had one of those Lada estates, 2nd from right, complete with a hand crank that he used when it wouldn't start. It didn't work and I can still remember as a boy helping push it up and down the street with my Dad trying to get it to go Currently the office is where the Mazda sign is and the workshop is down the ramp to the right. The rest of the site is also a different company, Hyde Park cars a BMW and Mini specialist. |

I would suggest the 3 litre (it looks like it has the horn vents and the fog lights) . I am not a fan of the 3 litre one either, prefer the R, not a fan of fins on Euro cars. Always fascinated by their back story, a bit of a odd Q car.

The last time I visited Peverall Garage must have been in the early 90's, I went to look a used, red Alfasud. Couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old
You could see filler in the top of the rear pillar lifting.....needless to say I've never owned an Alfa

She has gone into.................
................................... A.M.Restorations this morning.
Emptied her out yesterday, all the fluffy Banana’s and everything else are put away in a box. The large Banana, Bertie, who normally rides shotgun with me is in the back bedroom. Sharing the chair with D.C the large fluffy dog. (I know it’s sad). Boot emptied of all the cleaning stuff, so much of it. Arrived at the garage at 08.00 and she was booked in. Deposit taken along with with some details. I got the number of a cab company from Andy, the boss at the garage. Phoned and in less than 5 minutes the cab was there. Nice ride back in a Toyota Avenis, and the rain started. Driver dropped me at my front door. Moved Leafy into Banana’s spot. Missing her already.

’I know it’s sad’. No it’s not. I have an owl sitting on the back seat. ‘Owly the owl’. We forgot about him sitting in the back when we went to Germany a couple of years ago. Going through the customs at the shuttle, passport check, the person checking said, quite straight faced, ‘where’s his’? Wondered what he meant for a bit, and then he nodded his head towards the back seat. Could not help but laugh. Shows how observant they are.

Just had a phone call from the paint shop, the work is continuing at a steady pace. They have said that whoever had repainted the front bumper had made a right hash of it. Now the front bumper has been resprayed 3 times, once by a Monogram paint specialist in Reading and twice by a Bentley and Porsche body shop in Essex.
A.M Restorations have advised that the work may take a bit longer than planned as there is now extra work to be carried out on the bumper. The plus side there will be no difference in the final bill. Missing ole Yella, and now the Bear has been towed in just leaving me Redfive or the bus to get about.

Whilst it may take a little longer, at least you know it'll be done properly. Banana is going to look better than ever once the work is completed.
