Default JB Weld better than Araldite?

I've used Araldite for years but is JB Weld better?

I prefer JB weld, but it doesn't like slippery surfaces ( eg polythene slippery'ness)

JB Weld say so. There are lots of epoxy types around, with Araldite virtually starting the game so it's the one everybody thinks about. However, they've introduced so many Araldite variations over the years I suspect they've reduced the quality of the original. That's my impression anyway. The Araldite name also attracts fakes, so you have to be vigilant if you want the best results. I've not tried JB Weld.

Epoxies are ideal for some materials and useless on others. Horses for courses really. 'Waxy' plastics need a specific type of adhesive and it's not epoxy. Lots of resources on the Net to tell you what type is best for sticking what stuff.

Over here in Canada we don't have Araldite but I have used JB Weld for decades. I have used it to plug holes in engine blocks, and to repair a broken mounting boss for a thermostat on an old Chevy straight six. We then drilled and threaded the JBWeld to fit a mounting stud...it held. They also make a product called Water Weld which I used to plug a leaking TR7 fuel tank.
It works well for me.
I am a locksmith in my day job. We once had someone fill all of the ASSA lock cylinders on a school with JB. We found them after it had cured for the weekend and had to scrap all of the cylinders as there was no way the JB was coming out! That cost thousands.
