opps, car tax
I know it is the drivers responsibility.
Today the wife got a final reminder about her car tax, it ran out on the 1st August. On checking one of my cars, it too ran out on the 1st. Our fault. We did not get 1st reminders for either car and I've not had a second reminder for my car. We have now taxed both cars but just check yours in case your reminder has gone missing. An Outlook reminder has now been set up so we do not forget again....opps macafee2 |

Keep your fingers crossed you didn't get spotted by any ANPR cameras.

One of the drawbacks of no longer having an actual tax disc on the ‘screen.

I got pulled over by a policeman, whilst on my way to work, 6 or 7 years ago. He said that his ANPR system had flagged my car as having no insurance. I had all my documents with me, or so I thought. It turned out that the insurance certificate I had was from the previous year. I'd renewed with the same company so I still had their number. We had to wait 15 mins or so until their office opened, and when the policeman spoke to them, they confirmed I was covered. The insuror hadn't yet put my renewal details on the system. The policeman said that insurors have 4 weeks to do this from the start of the insurance period. So, I had been caught in the grace period then, except I that I had renewed before Xmas, and had been stopped for it in late April! |

One year I wanted to change my insurance provider. The one I chose sent me out the paperwork. I filled it all in and sent it back. About four weeks later I received a letter stating my insurance was to be withdrawn in 'x' days. Wow, panic! Phoned them up and they said the special permission code to allow the insurance company a view of my driving license had not been included in the returned paperwork. Oh, yes it has luv! Following my directions they found the entry. Of course, by that time it was out of date. Had the inconvenience of contacting the DVLA again to obtain another code and then the hassle of, "Press 1 to hear our terms and conditions again, press 2 for some muzak, press 3 for...........press 100 to speak to a person. Could have been in the same boat. Kev |
