Cool My baby is being moved to a temporary………..and coming home

……………………… new home until I’m fit enough to drive her again.

My good friend Matt Darke aka Cable Tie is coming to collect her in the next few days. He has off road parking and lives in a Cul de Sac. Plus she needs a few jobs done to bring back up to scratch. Had a few advisories on the MOT. Matt is more than capable to carry out the work. Banana has only moved once since I parked her up on the 12th December 2023. Allen took her into the workshop for her MOT back in January.

I really miss driving her but hate to see her just sitting there. It makes me feel real sad. But I know she will be in good hands with Matt. After all when I pop off this mortal coil Matt will inherit her. She is written into my will for him to have her.

Allen will use Baby Black Banana occasionally , possibly just taking me to the shops. Or on a day out if it ever stops raining.

Cool

Change of plans. Banana staying here in Cornwall, once we get her started. Battery is flat. Going to move her into an allocated parking spot then she will get started up every day by me.
Allen will be coming around with Leafy, and jump leads. Hopefully tomorrow.

Hi Bob. My 2.5 Connie is usually started about every three weeks. In between times, ithe battery is put on charge. This seems to be ok because as soon as I turn the key, it bursts into life no problem. Hopefully, this June it will have its turn on the road for twelve months.

Cool

Banana up and running with the help of Leafy. Now back in her allocated parking space. What a lovely sound hearing Banana ticking over. Oh! How I have missed that sound.

Cool So today was a bit…………….

…………………….. of an emotional one as I said goodbye bye to The Flying Banana. She has gone to live with Matt for awhile. There are few jobs to be carried out whilst she is with him.

Naturally enough she wouldn’t start. So Matt tried a starter pack. Nothing. Then jump leads across from his Rover. Nothing. Even after 30 minutes with leads across. Still no lights on the dashboard. Looked to see how old the battery was, 6 years old. Phoned up the local battery shop, Dawes, here in Saltash. Yes had a battery in stiock. So Matt drove me up to the tyre shop and I got out to pay. The girls were over the moon to see there “film star”, yes they had seen me on the telly.

So £105 lighter, and back home to get the battery fitted. Got there to find Allen waiting, he had borrowed Matt’s welder and was giving it back. Anyway battery fitted and she started on the button. Oh! My! How I have missed that sound. But she wasn’t giving up yet as she refused to let Ryan, Matt’s son, to drive away. The rear brakes had seized on but with a bit of rocking she finally gave in.

As she drove off up the road I could feel the tears welling up. But I kept my emotions in check whilst Allen reversed BBB into Banana’s space. He gave the keys back and he was gone as well.

At least one day, she will come back home, and in finer fettle than she left, in the meanwhile, concentrate of getting yourself fit again, so that when she does return your ready for her. Doctor Martin prescribes a diet of Propper job, Rattler, and proper Cornish Pasties, , scones, and clotted cream , with Jam.

I have lost nearly a stone in weight, and plan to keep it off. But there will always be a temptation somewhere along the way.

Hi Bob. Hope it is not too long before we see you back on the road, all geared up for a few more transits around the country. Sleep tight, and get yourself ready to put some more happy miles on Banana.
