Default replacing upper rear suspension arms

found this How To on the net for changing ear upper suspension arms
http://doublebooth.blogspot.co.uk/20...sion-arms.html

only part I'm not sure about is the drop links
I assume it is item 5 here
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001546

The thread makes it sound simple. Today I am going to try and replace the off side. I have 5 or 6 4 day weekends to get both sides changed. Near side is going to be a problem as the bolt by brake plate seized, don't know about inner bolt so I'm praying on that one.

Off side bolts have been undone

I'm a bit stressed that I'll start to take the car apart and get stuck unable to get it apart or back together. Don't be surprised to see a post begging for help

30 years ago I was full of confidence. Never read a manual, did it all by luck.

Good bit of info..... BUT..... it all goes to rats if the arm bolts are rusted in the captive nuts .( which most are) .. then its drop the subframe..

Which sounds bad but isn't really terrible hard

I'm in the middle of doing a full refurb on my V6 having already done it on the missus's diesel (now sold)
My car has only 50k on the clock and it's quite surprising just how rusty the bolts are.
I've already had to cut some off, even the rear brake pipes were corroded so bad at the nuts I had to cut through them.
Personally I would drop the sub frame every time if doing major work.

Check out my full suspension refurb post on the How to topics.

I'm in the process of doing both tea arms, but I have had to admit defeat. Both inner bolts sheared their captive nuts - I can get a spanner go them but nothing grips. I can't remove the subframe as the drivers side lower damper bolt wont budge
It all sounds so simple, but I have had more trouble like this on my rover than any other car, including my '75 spitfire.

bolts came out of their captive nut as if they we new, so relived. One side has a broken coil spring and the other side had the bolt seized in the bush by brake plate.
I used a hack saw and made to cuts, one either side of the bush and have removed the arm. What I cant do, is remove the blessed bush from they casting.
May need to dismantle car even more and take it to somewhere that has a press.
A job for Monday.

This is what I was worried about, getting to a point where I can not put car together or get it apart.
All, is not lost.

As long as u have the right tools.....shouldn't be a problem.
I replaced every single bolt and washer at the same time

This is exactly what my tourer needs, just need to rob a bank first to pay for it. Good pics.
