If it was made for a Chinese car by a manufacturer that was involved with supplying to the Chinese manufacturer for their version of the 75 then I guess yes. my gripe being that a part made by a manufacturer that never ever supplied Rover has their part sold as genuine, you have given a reason why it can be called genuine but it is not one I am willing to accept. As i said I think it is important others read what you and I have said, they can then make an informed decision about buying. macafee2 |

Couldn't agree more Ian. Purchasing quality parts is now a major issue with owning a 75 or ZT. Factory quality control died along with MGRover themselves, and 'geniune parts' unless old stock are not necessarily a mark of quality.

Right, I must add something here.
In the end of MGR they sourced a lot of parts from India, China, Taiwan etc. Cost saving on about 10p per part. A lot of what you call OE ( as supplied to Longbridge ) the manufacturer went bust at the demise of MGR. As they were struggling for money as well, they weighed to tooling in for scrap. So that no longer exists. Now after being in the sheet metal industry for circa 50 years, I can tell you now no company in there right mind would retool it ! The cost would be astronomical!! Then parts manufacturers have what is called MOQ. Minimum Order Quantity. Unless you want a thousand at least, They will not even consider changing their press tooling. So parts suppliers do their best to keep cars these on the road. Bet you can,t get genuine OE if you have Triumph Spitfire either. I agree labelling should be different. I suppose they could just make the part NLA. But if you can go out and find OE ( as in supplied to Longbridge ) , good luck ! The companies don,t exist ! Must add when China came in and stripped Longbridge a lot of tooling went with them. So now even if it is off the original tooling, It will say Made In China !!!!

We all have it within our power to put these so called ‘businesses’ out of the picture. Every time you get a duff part, get onto trading standards. And yes, I have done that very thing. We have to be less inward looking at moaning about items that are rubbish and not fit for purpose, and start making a stand, before we end up just putting money into the drain. Let’s all start complaining about what is supposed to be a safety item drop links for instance.
