Update
I am currently in contact with the officers of this Group. They are looking at making it a Club event. But they have to consider such "trivial" things as Insurance, Health & Safety, etc. We are working on it guys.
What we need is more commitment from the members of this great Club (subscribed or not). By the way, This was never meant as a Convoy event... this is a Relay. 48 Hours to get (roughly) around the coast line of Wales, England & Scotland. Let's face it. who can afford to get to a start point, somewhere in the UK, and then travel around GB in convoy and then get home??? I know I cannot.......... It is not yet set in stone how the event should be run (as such). Start from Cowley.... End in Longbridge.... is an option ?? Round the coast only....... is another option?? ( As I originally envisaged) The original concept, albeit late in the day, was to profile the club and bring in the media to highlight it. Fred the Ted's Grand Tour was an idea that would, maybe, catch the media's attention, and act as a "baton" from one car to the next. All ideas, at this stage, would be appreciated So that we can collate the ideas, and come up with a sensible solution to try and appease all members. (We cannot satisfy the needs of all, but we will try) If you wish to add your name to the list, please copy and paste (with your addition) to your message of support. Thank you all, I would dearly love to see this through. If any officers want to speak to my directly, please call me (or PM for info) directly. So far - "Pledged Volunteers" WALES: Clwyd North Wales JohnDotCom Old Colwyn, North Wales TimO Cardigan Dragrad Regional Co-Ordinator? More "volunteers" are required to make this happen - Can YOU help?

Clarification
Just in case it's needed, my "Start at Cowley - End at Longbridge" idea was not meant to be an alternative to a round britain relay, I thought that as several of us are centrally located, the event could kick of with a first leg or legs from Cowley to "the coast" then do the coastal tour as discussed and the final leg or legs being from "the coast" to Longbridge. That way many more members could participate in the overall event. hope that helps to clear up any confusion.
Andrew

But we do need more volunteers from around the UK to make the idea work....... unless those volunteers want to make a loooong leg See post 113

Sadly, now that I realise this is NOT a convoy, but a coastal relay, I don't see any way I can help.. The nearest coastroad to me would be in the Liverpool Birkenhead area, approx 50 miles away, and even if that was a start point, I would have to do the "leg" plus at least 100 miles.
Much as I enjoy driving the Rover, it makes more sense for me to go to a meet somewhere I think.. Pity really, I always fancied a Teddy Bear as a Co pilot! lol... . |
