Yep, took a while to get all the bits out. I had to basically unwind it from round the pulley, and use a breaker bar to crank it round and pull out the rubber when it stopped coming out freely.
Spent ages after cleaning all the pulley grooves with a toothbrush and brake disc cleaner, try to remove any oil and rubbish etc.

For anyone interested here is my adapted spanner I made slimmer with a grinder and I changed the depth profile of the ring end to sit inside the tensioner pulley more easily.

Under it is the piece of wood (a bit of my old T&G kitchen ceiling, borrowed from the kindling pile) about 10mm thick, 50mm wide and a foot long, that I used to wedge the spanner in place.

Made my 4pm tracking appointment but the computer said no and wouldn't run the software properly.
Rebooked for next wednesday ....

I have a couple adapted in the same way ground, down also an allocated wedge, and a little extension tube i made for more leverage, below all the tools you would need to change the belts and pulley.
