Looks like Vauxhall from now on then...
As I posted before, couldn't believe no one local wanted the half hour job of engine mount replacement, and one wanted to charge 2 hours labour. Last night I dropped the ZT off at the Vauxhall place they used to do my MK2 Cavaliers as they HAD bothered to answer my query. I was given an auto loan car as I only drive auto, and was called to say the Tee was done at 9.30 this morning. I had been right, even though I couldn't see the mount for the tray, it was naff!
I was charged the extremely fair for a garage (in my opinion) £30 inc VAT for the job and the use of their car, and they fitted me some new undertray clips I had left with them as well. (I supplied the mount, obviously) So, it looks like I will have to take an MG to a Vauxhall garage for the everyday jobs from now on, just to be treated fairly and get them done! Always find it funny that people often have to take their cars to a rival manufacturers for servicing. Dad had to do it himself a few years ago, when he took his Mondeo V6 to a Honda dealer for a service.

I don't think I would get away with £30 from any main dealer - Jon used to work for Vauxhall, that's where I met him back in about 1990 with my GLS that I still have! A few years back now he set his own independent Vauxhall place up and he's always fair on pricing. Everyone seems to go with the fact our cars need specialist care so I hadn't asked him to do work on them before, but as no one else would it looks like Jon will get my little jobs and MOT from now on as he is local and the loan car is a bonus.

£30 and a loan car is a superb deal, put them on your Christmas card list Dawn.
You would never get such a cheap price down my neck of the woods, most garages around here will not even entertain the idea of repairing an old MG Rover. Well done you. |

I would continue to use them for everything else that you need doing. That's the best thing when you have bad service somewhere in any walk of life, just refuse to use them again and take your money elsewhere. As the owner of a small business myself I'm always trying to get the job done right for a fair price for everyone. To quote Simon and Garfunkel 'You've got to keep the customer satisfied', if you can do that they generally come back for more work next time, whilst hopefully spreading a good reputation. |

Can you put up their name.
I think they deserve a plug based on the excellent service. |

I don't believe that 80% of the maintenance jobs on our cars need specialist care - just care like any other relatively modern car. It will be worth your while giving other jobs on the Rover to this garage in order to build up a working relationship and their comfort level with the car. |
