Firestick & Kodi updates
Kodi had been pestering me for a while wanting to update its firmware, then the Firestick updated itself, so I thought I would let the Kodi do it too...
After which Kodi 17.1 just refused to load at all. I deleted its cache, which didn't help, then finally got it to load by deleting its data, but all the 'extras' were gone. I have just managed to reinstall them, or at least those which were most often used. If anyone might be struggling with the how to do it, I can maybe offer a few pointers via email (please)..

Don't you have a "Wizard" installed? does it all for you Don't understand why Kodi would be pestering you to update does it automatically when needed, unless you've gone from 16 to 17.1 in which case you need android 6 & above for 17.1 I'm sure you're well aware of all this Harry as you're pretty good with this stuff

Firestick & Kodi updates
I use Durex too, best one I ever used was FireTV Guru but I think he has given up on updating the build now, as you say they all work pretty much the same and pull from the same sources, I have noticed that some sources are geo locating so having the ability to switch to different countries is useful sometimes.
Just out of interest which IPTV service are you using? Last edited by Vossy; 19th August 2018 at 11:15.. |

I find "builds" to be bloated and loaded with loads of stuff that you'll never use. They're fine if you've got a box with loads of memory, but after having 2 newer boxes go breasts up within one year of buying them I've just dragged old faithful yet again out of retirement - an MX III with 1gb .
It's running the MyGiyca media centre which gives you a version of kodi 17.1 which can be used on older boxes using Android 4.4 and below. I've loaded Placenta, Neptune Rising and BBC I player on to it, and it is just about watchable with low resolution content. My below 2Mbps internet connection doesn't help matters either...........the delights of rural living I'm also using Nordvpn. I've got a new kodi box on order, and decided to go for the T95Z Plus with 3gb - hopefully that'll improve matters slightly. Last edited by ratchet; 19th August 2018 at 13:00.. |
