Default Do my headlight washers need to work for mot

Hi just got the reminder in for my mot and found the following for testing.

headlight washers on vehicles first used from 1 September 2009 (if they have them)

So I have fitted on an ‘03 car, but not wired them up yet do they need to work if fitted ?
Thanks

going by the guidelines the headlamp washers aren't a testable item on our cars as they're too old, as the guidelines says checking headlamp washers to ensure they are working only applies to cars from 2009 on wards. So if the MOT knows the rules properly it won't fail.

My car passed 2 weeks ago and the headlight washers do not work, the tester never mentioned them and no advisories either.

Yeah I think that's correct too as my car passed its mot in aug and no mention of the washers on mine either like Vossy has said so as Rick said above it does only apply to any vehicle made from 2009 and newer.

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies, they put my mind at rest as far as the washers are concerned, just need to give everything else a once over and get it booked in
