Our cars are caught between 2 worlds. We think of them as classics, but for many, like me, they are (or should be) everyday usable. They are still reasonably common, so it it is worthwhile for unknown, nameless foreign manufacturers to churn them out, and for UK sellers to take the risk that the less-than-1in20 returns don't damage their profits or their reputations too much. Once the many have been scrapped, and only a relatively few low milers/show cars remain, they will be repaired with whatever stock remains, until a specialist (Like Rimmers) takes on the mantle of "Trusted supplier", hopefully getting parts from low volume, quality manufacturers, but even then, unless they have serious competition, it could be a case of "take it or leave it, - it's our rubbish or nothing."

I know I harp on about this a bit ..

But I can only go by experience and i've bought a lot of parts from Ahem certain "Specialist" Suppliers ..

And Still got a pile of C*** ... the last lot fitted to my CDTi in 2014, a front arm , a wheel bearing ,a Rear bush and a rack , only the rack is still here , the rest failed with in 2 years.

And since then 2 arms , a Rear bush and one Bearing ? all Supposed top makes ..

so even relying on a "Specialist" won't save you .

Currently got 2 DMGRS arms/bushes waiting to go on, and you don't wanna hear what I think about that so far ?

Personally I would only fit poly bushes, they come with a 10 year guarantee and I know if they do ever fail they will replace them with no quibble.

Why? and where? and to what ends?

Polybushing is fine for track cars, but ruin the ride in road cars........anyway how do you polybush a gash ABS sensor supplied by ECP, or a Chinese wheelbearing made of chocolate?

Talking of Mk7 Transit, my friend who bought new a 140 Sport Transit, was told recently after some pikey had stolen one of the wheelarch trims, and the stainless steel cover for the lower front bumper, that these parts are not available separately, instead an entire body kit and alloy wheels must be purchased at a cost of a shade over £2800+VAT.

How excellent is that I wonder

Ridiculous, it doesn't bother the pikeys though they just go steal another one, in the meantime your insurance just goes up and up. On a similar note there is a pikey camp local that has a couple of older transits running around with the new body kits on them, you can just imagine them at the Ford dealers ordering those!!

oil hav tu ov dem der bady kits and oi dont want to pay yur vat
