Greetings from way down south, how does one get hold of what sounds like an essential tool for the V6 motor? How much to buy one? I read an earlier post where a member made up his own unit, how difficult is this? Don't think I can make the next gathering, bit too far away unfortunately.

vis tester
Quote:
Building a vis tester is not too difficult even for someone like me a mechanic/welder the hardest components to acquire are the plugs from the engine loom for the vis motors if you can get these then it's easy enough. Look through the "How To" section all info is there mate. I recently purchased an engine loom from a breaker in the UK, it cost me £20 sterling. All the other components were sourced from an electronics supply shop. I suppose you could buy all that you would need online also. If you are interested in building your own tester and can't get the vis plugs I would quite happily try to find a loom for you here in the UK and mail it to you mate. |

Gidday mate, thanks for your very generous offer, which I would like to take you up on. Can you send me your details. Our son lives in surrey, we are hoping that he will come over to NZ for our summer hols. If so he could bring the loom over with him. Postage is not cheap, although as I only need the terminals cost should not be too bad.
The more I read about failing vis motors, the more I think The Prince of Darkness (ie Lucas) may not have so bad after all. John |

Hello again John success have managed to find 2 vis plugs, have stripped them of the outer casings so you have the 2 plugs and approx 18 inch of wiring to play with, more than enough, to connect straight into your box. Have sent you a PM please check your forum inbox mate

Yes 2 ltr and 2.5 are same part. As for what gives up, take your pick.
Motor, relay, switches, PCB burn out, dry joints. Very much a open it up and see operation
