Really cool traffic lights would be one's that didn't hold you up at deserted junctions.

They look great..when I was working out there they had a digital countdown timer on traffic lights to tell you when the lights would change which was also handy

They also use those over here in France, but at the moment they only appear to be used on temporary traffic lights for roadworks.

The digital countdown timer is a good idea, hopefully the drivers obey them better than they used to.

Travelling between Hong Kong, where even bus passengers wore seatbelts, to Shenzhen, where driving had a slightly Wild West technique, with frequent crashes, was interesting to say the least.

One particular highlight was encountering a unlit large forklift driving the wrong way on our side of the dual carriageway.

I also saw a fire engine, with blue lights and siren going, stopped waiting for the lights to change.......

Great looking lights. The coundown timers are used in many places now ... except here
Around this way traffic lights are just an inconvenience that a lot of people ignore these days.
They have replaced a lot of them with the new LED light ones but how simple would it have been to install a camera in each light fitting with ANPR to automatically send the NIP's out?
People obey the lights when they know there is a camera there, I have a dash cam and the amount of cars I see running full red lights is ridiculous, it's getting to the point where I am thinking of stopping at green lights just in case
