Van Drivers Must Follow HGV Rules
Does this mean white van man's days are numbered? https://www.ukhaulier.co.uk/news/roa...low-hgv-rules/

The only way to enforce it properly is to fit tachographs to vans.

Aren't data loggers to be mandatory fitted to all vehicles by 2021? along with that "intelligent speed assistant" feature.

This is news to me and I used to drive a van for work albeit it a few years ago.
I wonder just how many current van drivers are aware of this. |

If you drive as part of your work time then shouldn't you be treated the same as HGV drivers, irrespective of the vehicle.

.......... and have enough people to check the records! I was chuckling last night watching the farming programme where newborn animals were being ear tagged. I recently spent time in other "European" countries with not an ear tag in sight. Rules are not rules if they are not enforced. We Brits are very compliant.

That's what happens at our place, if you drive a works vehicle of any type or size (including cars) then you have to stick to professional drivers hours.

I currently have a work van, i do have the option of a work car and had considered taking one due to the flippin silly 50mph rules on vans, but the rules say if you have a car you have to register for private use (£90 a month tax plus 9p per mile)
My van is buisness use only and costs me nothing. I might ask about using my own vehicle and claiming milage. |

I do part time coach driving, as part of the legalities of tachograph driving, I have to keep a written record of my swlf employment working hours. If I was ever stopped by the traffic commissioners while at work on the coach, I would need to produce this as a record of my "other work" as its called
