Yes they can with a little work. You can even purchase the expansion tank with the sensor already fitted

Unfortunately the 75 needs a little bit more work to install but its all possible.

The later beige or buff tank is see through, just shine a light from your phone against the side to check the level, it has markings already there. That is how I check my coolant level.

According to the owners handbook, the facelift diesel models do have a "low engine coolant" warning light.

Do they actually have this?

And if so, strange it was fitted to the engine variant that was not notorious for water loss !

No production models had any sensor or wiring installed. See link in post #13

Strange, the owners handbook must have been printed before "project drive " was completed.

It's detailed on page 80 of the owners handbook dated 01/2004.
