Aircon controls.
Hi all.
Just a quick question. I have the basic aircon controls with the old fashioned twist knobs. Is this a straight swap with the climate control panel? Looking to make the interior a little more up to date. Regards, James. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk |

I Don't believe it is I think you need to fully retro fit climate control set up which is a lot of Work.

It's a huge job mate, I looked into doing it for somebody on a classic model once, and once I realised the full extent of the amount of work required they decided not to have the work done

You might like to read some of the posts in this thread which praise the manual air con. controls. Although I have ATC in my 75, my SD1 has manually operated slider controls from the nineteen seventies and eighties. They are supremely functional and easy to use. When I'm driving that car I don't feel in the least bit dissatisfied. What's more, in both cars I might feel a bit too hot or a bit too chilly. When that happens, I reach across and adjust something slightly and this includes the 75 equipped with ATC! One of its worst features in my view is that when you return to the car on a baking hot day, it's programmed to recirculate which is the wrong choice. So I have to press a button on the ATC to take manual control! Enjoy your ZT James. It stands out on the road by being a bit different. Keep it that way! Simon

I agree, it is less than clever to do that. Better would have been to blow the cooler exterior air through, until it had got the temperature down to that of the outside. My fix is to use global opening on the key, to open all the windows and the roof, before I get into the car, to release most of the heat. The recirc then is just trying to pull the interior of the car down from ambient, the desired temperature. The recirc is only engaged when the a/c obviously would not be able to quickly cool the interior. Once it gets the temperature under control, it disengages.
