Default Less than knowledgeable AA man

I went for a walk earlier and happened to walk past a broken down deisel tourer being worked on by an AA man.

As I approached I overheard the owner saying "somebody told me it's a BMW engine"

Nah, says the AA man, it's a Jag engine

Not wanting to look like a smartarse I bit my tongue and walked on past, took a lot of effort lol

You're more refined than me - I wouldn't have been able to help myself.

Reminds me of the AA man who arranged recovery of my brother's 75 because it had HGF without even lifting the bonnet.

(It had a split hose)

He had half the engine on the pavement beside him, you would have thought he would have spotted at least one BMW badge

It depends on the age of the patrol guy as the cars have been out of production for 12 years now. You can't expect them to know everything about every manufacturer

They may have been out of production for 12 years but enough of them break down so you would think he would have known

True, but in that case shouldn't the conversation have gone like this:

AA man replies: "Really? I didn't know that. You learn something every day in this game. Thanks mate".

It probably should of Simon unless the patrol guy thought he was right.
