new clutch
iv just had a new clutch fitted to my 51 plate 75 tourer all was fine for the 1st day but now the peddle goes to the floor gear changes are getting hard.
is it just a case of getting the system rebled or is more serious? |

I don't know, but my advice would be to take it back to the garage straight away and tell them to get it right this time.

"Sounds" like a fluid issue, could be simple and require only a bleed/refill .. however your worst case is that the slave cylinder is leaking (and they didn't replace it) and it'll require the same labour to get to it again, "slightly" better case scenario is that master cylinder is leaking.

Clutch
Assume if they installed a new clutch kit (clutch plate & pressure plate) they renewed the slave. Because of the labour charge (5 hrs) it doesn't pay not to replace both at the same time.
While I have today seen 1 member that bled system and it is ok 6 months later you will see if you follow the threads on clutch changes that the master cylinder very often packs up next (in sympathy, maybe !) Bad news is master is about £140 but good news is it is at top of clutch pedal under dash so labour charge should not be more than about 1 hour or so to fit. Good luck.

It could be leaking hydraulic fluid by the join under the battery, they would of had to undo this to take the gearbox out.
