Default 1.8T Towing ability

Hi guys. I still haven't replaced my old Diesel MG after it got wrecked in the floods last year but i'm going to need a decent towcar before long. I have a 22ft Lunar delta twin axle. Last time I looked was just within the towing limits of the MG range.

I never towed it with my diesel, but i did use it to move various cars around some of which were quite frankly over the weight limit. It was a superb tow car.

My question, is there enough power in the 1.8Turbo for pulling close to its limit weight wise and can the engine handle the abuse? Once the head gasket has been done, are they strong enough to still withstand the extra heat build up etc. I have no issues with the weight, just the engine.

Before anyone says it, im a petrol head and I find diesels boring, the 1.8T to me seems the perfect compromise and from what i gather they can be tweeked abit.

Kind regards
Matt
