Default Drain on battery overnight

Have had Battery problem since new! If I do not run for 5 miles during day then battery flattens overnight. Have already disconnected SatNav and CD player because there seemed to be a drain.
Happened again this morning. Battery fairly new and charges fine out of car.
Any ideas?

Could just be your Battery is about to die!
Have it checked first at Somewhere even loike Halfords, they have the Proper Gear.
5 Miles a Day is not really enough of a Run to put back in any charge you have used starting etc a Poor condition Battery.
Also check of course that No Courtesy lights are staying on In Load areas Glove compartments etc.

Going flat overnight is much to quick even, if it was the sat nav unit at fault that should take three or four days

Take it to a decent auto electrician and get the drain measured

Do a search here for posts by DeeCee he measured the currents drawn over time and you can use those for rough reference

If you have a fuel burning heater fitted might perhaps that is going wrong.

You could try disconnecting it for a few days to see if that makes any difference.

But agree with JohnDotCom 5 miles not really enough to keep a diesel battery happy

Default flat battery

hi ive got a 51 plate diesel and am on my third battery. i do a lot of stopping and restarting the engine and this seems to boil the battery. halfords do a heavy duty one for about £70. ive never found a reason why it cooks them but its just one of those things.

If the battery is boiling then it is being overcharged ie too much current - the voltage regulator needs replacing - had this problem with my bike once!

Yup agree with that. Very fair.

You could also try a couple of X Part Service Centres

Apple Developements in Meopham. Know 75's well and charges are reasonable. Use them myself.

appledevelopment.co.uk/index.htm

Or Executive Motoring Services at Rainham

The alternator itself can cause these symptoms if the Diode rectifier pack has gone leaky. Start disconnecting things & pulling fuses until the drain disappears while monitoring with an Ammeter in series with battery.
