Are you kidding me? I've just done this job and what a joke. From the pictures I strangely assumed the hose through the bulkhead would be vertical, or at least slightly inclined, but it's horizontal?! I'm no engineer but doesn't gravity pull things DOWNWARDS and if you point water at a horizontal surface then it'll 'pick' it's route rather than potentially going where you wanted it.
I can't believe the torx screws holding the glovebox in, either. There's a fuse board behind it that, presumably, would need access during the lifetime of the car. You have to pull up the material that is GLUED to the bottom of the glovebox to get to the torx screws, and there isn't a hope in hell that the material go down flat again after being yanked around. I seriously wonder about the engineers they employed to design the Rover 75... |

The glove box felt is liftable without damaging it, (sharp tug method!)
The whole concept of the 75 was that there would be no screw heads visible. Just speaking to the Rover 800 lads at the NEC Classic Car show today and they report the sunroof drains are the same design. So it seems MGR learnt no lessons at all

Jules, I would love to agree with you except that the first screws I took out where the two at the bottom of the fascia under the steering wheel. Those two are clearly visible to all but the visually impaired.

Massive water ingress headaches for me too gents.
I presently have to deal with two ZTs with sieve/colander issues. I've already stopped at least two leaks and now have at least two more. Including the one that this entire thread is about, on (obviously) the sunroof car. |

After I did my two front plenums all seems to be well again. The water is drying up slowly of its own accord from the rear footwells and there are no associated 'bad smells' from sitting water. No further leakage has been observed.

But the mould and rot will set in soon enough unless the foam soundproofing is completely dried out underneath. 2 inches thick and holds gallons !!! If you don't want to remove carpet completely, then lift the affected side of the carpet (remove trims etc) Place several dry towels under the wet foam and let them soak up the moisture. (car can still be used as long as pedals are not fouled with anything) Repeat this process each day for 5 days. Carpet will then be approaching 90% dry. There's so many 75's about now stinking of mould

I may have missed it and apologise in advance if I had.
I do not have a sun roof but perhaps the plugs that cover the roof bars are equally suspect? Is there still this drain pipe to worry about? I did have loads of water in the rear drivers under seat well but that was due to a failed heater matrix. The water had the sticky smelly antifreeze feel about it. Having sorted that I was not worried about it but still there was an occasion to check it! Now I have water/very wet carpet under the drivers seat but this water feels "cleaner"
