Injector problem
Had the intectors out when I did the HG's. Put them back on reassembly noting that the O rings were still in the inlet manifold. Started up car and had air leaks (as expected) around the injectors. Had the injectors out today and it seems that the bottom piece of the injector that secures the O ring in place has come off the bottom of the injector. My eyesight is failing a bit nowadays and I can't really see whether or not the bottom of the injector is broken off or whether it has just come off and can be put back. Any help please - I don't want to be buying new injectors.

Malcolm, if the worst comes to the worst, I have a set of unused new injectors for a 2 Litre V6 but without 'O' rings. You are welcome to them for the postage.
Mind you, I've got to find them but I know where 3 of them were 2 weeks ago. |

Thanks Bernard. I will keep you posted on that but it looks very much like 4 of them are broken. The bottom bits are stuck in the inlet manifold and wont budge.

Had them for years, I never throw anything away 'just in case'. Stuff just disappears, possibly forever, in huge heaps of mostly junk. |

They can be fixed, although I do NOT recommend it. I had posted a "how to" some time ago on org. I'll look for it if anyone is interested. I had learned how to remove them without breaking them, but it costed me three injectors .
Fixed them as good as I could and they are still on my engine. Replaced all the O-rings with Viton (found them for a very good price at an industrial equipment supplier). Maybe I should have replaced the entire broken injectors but I didn't like the price when I asked. P.S. Actually it is not the injector the part that breaks, it is a plastic coat (glass reinforced PA). Edit: P.P.S. I had also written an article about how to test the injectors, I can look for that one too.
