Smelly job done! bathroom basin has been slow emptying for a while so time to take the trap off underneath.......eeeewwwwwww gunged up and Stinks, that's had a bottle of drain buster this week.
New decking boards & handrails ordered to replace the rotted ones, B&Q and the like wanted £30-£40 delivery charges so managed to find an old family run timber business in Oldham that did free delivery Should arrive just in time for the cold wet weather that's forecast leading up to the weekend

Evening all, What a frustrating hour or so I've had trying to get a mobile banking app tied to this new phone, needless to say it went belly up
Banking apps are the Win 10 of the internet Despite typing in all the correct necessary information it still kept saying error after a few times it's locked me out & I need to re-register my account all over again lol GAWD I hate these things, I knew there was a good reason I never bothered with mobile phones I'm already on a bottle of Henry's to calm down. It's gone back in the drawer out of harms way.

Dry but a bit cold, supposed to get colder. Snow forecast on the hills tomorrow |

Well today is day 3 of the overhaul to the monogram spice tourer. In December she went in for her MOT. she passed with her exahust, her bottom ball joints, and her track rod ends geting a mention.
At the begining of this month she got her exahust Fixed, well some 304 stainless tube from the down pipe connecting on to the New stainless section, I left the CAT in place along with a foot of pipe then new 304 stainless pipe back all the way to where the back box should have been. I rolled some 304 plate to the same shape of the existing single sheet box seem welded that then rolled another section of plate to go over the top of that to give me a double skin then cut out a section of 304 thick steel sheet to be the end of the box going on the gas flow in end cutting a round whole in the right place to put the pipe into the box then welded up the box with 316 rods both the inside sheet on the inside and outside then the outer skin on the outside of the inner skin I then cut the periforated baffels to be welded into the box along the gauze that was going inside the box I then cut out the back end of the box from some thick pollished sheet and set obout making the holes for my two tail pipes used the last of the single 316 rods that were in the S/S 316 bag the ones left in the bag were not that good found an orange box with a blue lid and a yellow lid the lable said they were 10Kg of 316 4mm stainless electrodes tried one disaster a monkey could have done better, took a handfull of the rods and put them in the baby belling oven for a cooking at 200 degress for twenty minutes. Much better the welds are decent again place the sections of pipe together then weld them up together and finely the constructed sound attrnuater gets welded on the end of the long shaped pipe. Then finely my two little shaped pipes to keep the whole thing looking like the original box weld on some brackets and attach sum rubbers and we have a nice polished exhaust pipe that is still quiet. that is the first tank of fuel since the job being done. I must have done something right as the we are geting 5miles more on every gallon of fuel. over the past three days the back subframe has come off and the new along with its top and bottom arms. The springs do look brand new purple and black, sadly the dampers are less than what is required by the bug lump of the tourer. and the rubber or metalastic in the top mount has seen better days. so a pair of top mounts and a pair of shock absorbers. today I will start on the front suspension before going on to the brakes they need done from the ABS pump back to the nipple. the hold up on the rear was waiting for 90mm flanged head 12mm high tensile bolts, currently these seem to be like hens teeth to get a hold off. I have to admit that I find the whole job very tiring and I am exahusted before the end of the day eat my dinner then hit the hay. Next time I will be giving this to the garage to do I am to old and to weary now at 73. though by the time I am finished she will see me out. Goodness the last car I will have to rebuild and restore for myself. |
