Water in the boot
Yes, I know about the rear light seals but this water is apparently coming through the rear window as the whole length of the steel section in the boot directly below the widow has water dripping from it the whole length. Presumably a seal problem but what should I remove and by what techniqe to get some sealant in. Or is it a widow out job?
Both my saloons are affected, the 50k mileage one I really do want to take care of. |

There are a row of plastic clips that run along the bottom of the window, these are known to leak. If you feel under the window from inside the boot, you'll feel them. From the outside of the window, peel back the rubber seal from the bottom and you'll see them. I use Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure to seal along the bottom edge, and silicone sealant underneath on the clips. Have fun

Mine leaked in the same Place.
I lifted the rubber and sprayed WD 40 under it. That was 8 years ago and it hasn't leaked since.-- |

Mike - are you sure it is actually an external leak? Or could it be condensation forming on the inside of the rear window, then running down to the bottom of the glass (still on the inside) and dripping onto the steel section directly below (in the boot). In other words, could it be condensation from inside the car and not an external rainwater leak entering through the lower seal #6? Last edited by Blink; 11th March 2020 at 14:22.. |

By the way, I recently saw Edd China testing for leaks using a smoke machine. He put the machine inside the car and waited for smoke to find its way out of the leak point.
Theatrical smoke machines can be hired (or bought) quite easily. https://www.google.co.uk/search?sour...=1583940605407 https://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and...SABEgIXwPD_BwE |

For that amount of damp you would need a pool in the boot and every carpet wringing wet.-- |

No problems under the dash apart from lines on the LCD and surface rust of one of the crossbars. |

I would guess that you do actually have, maybe, a very small leak from somewhere that's not easily seen. It shows itself by condensation on the windows.--- |
